According to an email sent to developers, Apple has stated that it is going to start removing old and outdated apps from the App Store. Including apps that havenât been updated in a while and apps that have been abandoned by their developers.
âWe are implemending and ongoing process of evaluating apps, removing apps that no longer function as intended, donât follow current review guidelines, or are outdated,â â" Apple (in the email)
In order to combat some search engine optimization, Apple is also making naming guidelines stricter by not allowing apps to have names longer than 50 characters.
It looks like the cleaning process will begin taking place on September 7th, the same day as the new iPhoneâs announcement. It looks like Apple now wants to keep the Play Store as tidy as possible. Just in time for the iPhone 7âs announcement.
